The Neuromuscular Response

The body is a clever machine, both neurologically and physiologically. When it begins to show signs of breakdown the resulting stress shows up in many forms (inflammation – weakness – imbalance – outright damage). All these stress events have one thing in common – the body lending itself to protect or GUARD itself. The principle reason is to at first protect but if prolonged this becomes intrusive, obstructive and can be degenerative. For simplicity, I call this neuro-muscular response “Guarding”. I have grown to learn that many traditional methods to push past tissue and nerve resistances can at times be very counterproductive and worsen the problem (essentially training the body to guard itself more). By learning to peel back layers of Guarding the body receives new blood flow and nerve activity necessary to reconnect areas of dysfunction back into itself locally – regionally and globally. Functional return and a sense of ease in the tissues is the trend of response to learning to unguard bodies. – Michael Foy

  • Easing the nervous system prior to moving into deeper areas
  • Breathing techniques to inhibit the “guarding effect”
  • Increased conscious thinking for effective release of deeper areas
  • Unlearning  bad habits that hinder progression
  • Unguarding allows for better healing, reset and restoration of the body
  • Pain triggers guarding – adjustments are required to prevent this

How it works

The coaching sessions encompass a combination of externally guided cues, repeated mindful intention and functional re-evaluation, which allows the body to reclaim its intended state of motion and general wellbeing. Sessions are conducted via Zoom. There is no need to have the Zoom app installed. Access to the Zoom Coaching sessions is obtained via email containing a private link to each session. Depending on your preference, sessions can be via video or voice only. Pricing is per one-hour session.

Evaluation

Evaluation helps determine the focal point of the neuromuscular areas that need to be unguarded, which in turn reveals where the real trauma of the deeper tissues is so that it can be properly dealt with.

Balance

The body is all about balance. Pain in one area will cause healthier areas to overcompensate in the attempt to reduce the stress and pain to the unhealthy area. Dealing and working with unhealthy tissues is a must before the healthier areas become weakened by overcompensation.

Functionality

Neuromuscular Coaching helps you to reclaim your body’s intended state of motion and wellbeing by applying a series of methods and techniques to relieve tension.

Yes. Michael Foy is a licensed Physical Therapist with over 22 years of experience. God has gifted Michael with a deep understanding of the neuromuscular system and he has been able to help thousands of people regain functionality in their bodies. Michael does not shy away from a challenge. He enjoys working with complex cases.

Who are the coaching sessions for?

The Coaching sessions are for those with neuromuscular pain/dysfunction who require coaching, support, guidance, evaluation, and tools and keys to help them reduce the severity of their neuromuscular pain/dysfunction, helping their bodies reclaim their intended state of motion and general wellbeing.

How much are the coaching sessions?

The Coaching sessions are $106 Australian Dollars per one-hour session.

How does the process work?

After you have purchased a Coaching Session, you will then be re-directed to our online calendar to book in your session. Please note that the Booking Calendar is according to Australian Eastern Time (Sydney Time Zone). Once you have booked your day and time for your session, you will receive an email containing an access link for your Zoom Session. On the day of your booked appointment, please ensure you click on the Zoom link in your approval email, and have it ready to go a few minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. This helps to ensure everything is ready and set up for your hour session to commence.

How many sessions will be required?

The number of Coaching sessions required varies per individual. Everyone is different and unique, and so are the problems they deal with in their bodies. Some might require one session, others might require more.
