Prophetic Word – A Dream of War and Light

Several nights ago, I dreamed of war – of walking rubble-filled streets and standing in dark rooms with heartbroken people. Despair and hopelessness were thick – overwhelm filled the air.

I didn’t perceive the terror that you’d expect in such a dream, but the personal cost on hearts, minds and spirits – In my dream, I encountered people with broken-hearted oppression. Like they’d taken blows they could not recover from.

There was no” fightback” left in them, no “stand back up”– I heard Isaiah 60:2 in my spirit – For behold, darkness covers the earth, and thick darkness is over the peoples;…

The thing with broken hearts that differ from just weariness is the ability to dip into cynicism and bitterness – bitterness takes root in broken hearts so easily as it seemingly self-protects from more disappointment.

Bitterness, however, is a foothold for darkness to take ground on, and one we cannot afford in this season. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

To me, this is a picture of many in the body – Not just the physical chaos of our nations ATM but an inner war happening, a rising up of hopelessness and despair. An increase of brokenheartedness is taking the legs out from under the saints at this hour, diminishing their will to keep their Light fuelled. Distracted by uncertainty and destabilised by the narrative in the air, many have forgotten what it is to keep their lamps lit and their oil on hand.

Isaiah 60:2 – For behold, darkness covers the earth, and thick darkness is over the peoples; but the LORD will rise upon you, and His glory will appear over you.

If we view Isaiah 60 as a prophetic overview, we see a timestamp of the state of things in this season and the importance of God’s people stewarding their Light and shining brightly. It’s a promise to hold.

This is a different season and while the earth has shaken before, there is a different weight to the days we are walking.(Acts 14:16).” In past generations, He let all nations go their own way.” But now there is a reckoning to herald in a restoration. The Lord comes to ready His people. (Haggai 2:7-9) I will shake all the nations, and they will come with all their treasures, and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of Hosts. . . .

(Malachi 4:2)” But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings, and you will go out and leap like calves from the stall.

God gives us His Light because chaos reigns in darkness. This is why it’s so important to keep your lamp filled. Don’t run out of oil in this hour but nourish that Light you possess.

King David said that the Lord was his Light and his salvation and a fortress to protect him from danger (Psalm 27:1).

We know that Light shines in the darkness; the darkness can never extinguish it (1 John 1:5)

He called us out of darkness and into His wonderful Light (1 Peter 2:9).

God lifted us up when we needed help. He rescued us from sin and death. So now, we can walk in His life-giving Light (Psalm 56:13).

One day, the time to shine God’s Light will run out. Jesus told us to quickly carry out the tasks assigned to us because night is coming (John 9:4).

Jesus replied, “My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going” (John 12:35).

So the question is how ? How do we walk as light bearers in a dark world ..

What you look at, focus on, matters – (2 Corinthians 3:18) ‘And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image with intensifying glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

We fuel our Light by staying in proximity to Him and keeping our gaze on Him, not the things around us.

It’s not enough to know Him, we must live it in an outward expression of the inward belief (Romans 1:21-32) “For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking and darkened in their foolish hearts.

By keeping His commandments- (Philippians 2:15-16) so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation, then you will shine among them like stars in the sky, as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labour in vain.

Psalm 119:105 reminds us of the role of God’s Word in maintaining our spiritual oil: “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

Preparedness to take God’s word seriously and feed yourself on it is what keeps your lamp lit .. By having your faith rest solely in the person of Jesus Christ we can overcome even the deepest heartaches. Our hope remains in Him alone. Not in Governments, not in economics, not in relationships etc… He is all that is stable – all else is transient and changeable.

A great darkness covers the earth, but glory comes!

We have a responsibility to respond to this darkness by shining bright. By turning on the Light and being beacons of hope for the hurting. Steward your lamp, keep your oil full. lift your eyes! … (Ephesians 5:8, 14) For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of Light, . . There is a purpose to where you find yourself positioned in this hour –(Isaiah 42:6)”I, the LORD, have called you for a righteous purpose, and I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and appoint you to be a covenant for the people and a light to the nations.

(Matthew 5:16) In the same way, let your Light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
