Is Your Seed Still In The Barn?

Is Your Seed Still In The Barn? (6 Jan 2021)

Haggai 2:19 (AMP) –  Is the seed still in the barn? As to the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree—they have not produced. Yet from this day on I will bless you [in the harvest of your crops].’”

Is your seed still in the barn? As I was spending time with Jesus reading the book of Haggai, the Holy Stopped me at Haggai 2:19 and prompted me to ask the body of Christ today, “Is your seed still in the barn?”.

We have just finished a very challenging year. 2022 was a year full of challenges, difficulty, hope deferred, discouragement, what seemed to be unanswered prayers and more for many in the body of Christ. This caused some who followed the Lord faithfully and obediently to become weary and lose their “strength” in the battles. They kept obeying and following God, however, they seemed to refrain from “sowing” all their seeds last year. They withheld some of the seeds that were “dear” to them. Those seeds that if they would sow those seeds and not see a harvest would in their minds “break” them. Break them in a sense because of the hope deferred and weariness they have had to deal with and endure for a prolonged season. And if they would not have seen a harvest from those seeds, they felt like they would not have been able to “recover” and so they did not sow them.

These seeds don’t necessarily present tithes and offerings. These seeds may represent dreams and heart desires. Because these ones have been in “survival mode” for so long, barely holding on and feel like if they should have another hope deferred moment, they won’t be able to bounce back. They did not have the mental, emotional and spiritual capacity to sow these extra seeds that are so dear to their hearts. They rather wanted to keep these seeds on a “shelf” for “safe keeping” during the challenging time in fear that they might lose these seeds in the battle somehow. Almost like the enemy might come and plunder them and steal the seed if they made attempts to sow it in 2022.

If this has been you, then the Lord wants to encourage you today. Bring out your seeds. Bring them out of the barn so they can be planted. For what you failed to realise was that these seeds that were given to you by Jesus, His precious promises and words to you, are no ordinary seeds. His seeds, His Word, does not return to Him void. Even if you should plant these seeds and they lay dormant in the soil until the opportune time for them to grow roots and sprout up, they will surely grow roots and sprout up. But keeping them in the barn will produce nothing. Seeds need to be planted and die in the ground before true life can spring forth and grow from it. If it is not planted, it just remains a dry old seed.

The enemy made you believe that he was more powerful than the seed God put in your hand. But this is not true. Not even the enemy can override God’s words to you. Satan himself needs to obey and conform to God’s spoken word, as with all creation. The enemy’s attempts were to have you hide your seed as he fears of what that seed can produce when planted as he sees the potential of the harvest. So he came with intimidation, fear, discouragement and disbelief in attempts to prevent you from sowing your seeds last year.

Seeds are preserved for a long time. So don’t worry, your seeds have been preserved. However, now is the time to sow those seeds. Sow your seeds of ministry, sow your seeds of business, sow your seeds of family, sow your seeds of health, sow your seeds of giftings and talents, sow your seeds of dreams. Sow, Sow, Sow…and keep sowing.

It is God’s job to bring the rain and to make your seeds grow and sprout in its time. Your job is to sow what He has given to you and entrusted in your care. So as we are at the beginning of 2023, examine your “barns” and see what seeds you left unsown last year and in your previous season. Take it out and present it to Jesus. Ask Him to bless it, increase it, multiply it and grow it according to His will, His timing and His speed. Sow your seed with a gladdened heart knowing that God does not distribute seeds for planting for no reason. When God put seeds in our hands it is because He has the full intention of that seed becoming a harvest. Our God is the God of growth. Remember that this year. Don’t become disheartened at the speed of growth. Trust the Grower. The Supplier of rain. Your seed is like the parable of the talents. The one who receive one talent went and buried it and it amounted to nothing. The one who had 5 talents put it to work and produced five more. Likewise, your seed if it remains in the barn won’t amount to anything. But if you take it out, putting it to work, it will produce a harvest. Some 30, 60 and some 100 fold.

Trust God with your seed this season. He is able and capable of protecting and watching over your seed even more than you are able. Sometimes you have to release in order to receive. Release your seed and receive your harvest in due time.

Be blessed 😊
