Someone needs to hear today – you are not the sum of all your efforts. Effort means – a vigorous or determined attempt, the result of an attempt, strenuous physical or mental exertion, the activities of a group of people with a common purpose. In today’s world we are often taught that the sum of our efforts and the result of achievements shape who we are and our position of life. Today the Lord wants to remind you that you are not the sum of your efforts even if that is how the world views you. Psalm 127:1-2 (ESV) – Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep. Unless God is the one helping you in your efforts, your efforts are in vain. Unless the Lord orchestrates your achievements, your achievements are in vain. Romans 9:16 (AMP) – So then God’s choice is not dependent on human will, nor on human effort [the totality of human striving], but on God who shows mercy [to whomever He chooses—it is His sovereign gift]. You need to learn to separate your “who” from your “do”. What you achieve for God from your own human point of view is not the same as how God views that achievement. You might be wearying and tiring yourself out at the moment because you think your efforts have not been enough to achieve what you think should have been achieved on this pathway God has you on. The apostle Paul achieved chains and prison for his efforts. And yet he said in Philippians 1:12 (NIV) – Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. Paul separated his “who” from his “do”. He understood that effort and achievement viewed from his perspective do not necessarily align with God’s view of achievement of that effort. Paul understood that even though he poured himself out constantly and laboured continuously for the Kingdom of God, and reaped chains and prison as an achievement or result for his effort, that achievement and result had great benefit from a Kingdom standpoint and not a worldly one. Do not become distracted with your efforts and the result of those efforts. Trust God with your efforts and the works you do for Him as He is the one who works in you to accomplish all things for His purposes, His way, in His timing. Even if your results of your efforts might not look like much to you, in God’s eyes it is pleasing and achieves much in His Kingdom as you operate from a position of obedience, willingness and submission to His will and way. Keep going. Be blessed 😊 By Adele GroblerSomeone Needs To Hear Today – You Are Not The Sum Of Your Efforts
